Easter: Done for Another Year
- Public holidays are over and it’s back to work? Check
- All chocolate’s eaten and the detox has started? Check
- Easter festivities over and done for another year? Not even close
God’s perfect plan isn’t finished: Part 1: Christ died for us; Part 2: Christ rose for us.
But what about part 3? What about the here and now? Christ lives for us.
Whilst the first two parts of the plan can be pinpointed to a particular time and place in history, their implications reach further than that. They extend into part 3: He lives for us.
The Perfect Plan – Part 1: Recap
Christ Died For Us

Whilst we were still enemies, we received value with God’s favour

The blood of Christ gifts life to those who receive Him

The Spirit removes scales from our eyes revealing His truth
The Perfect Plan – Part 2: Recap
Christ rose for us

Christ conquered death and paid our ransom thereby enabling access to the Father

Our rags of impurity have been replaced with robes of righteousness

The Spirit trains and equips us for the battle and our new life
The perfect Plan – Part 3: He Lives for us
Christ not only died and rose again, He continues to live.
God knows all and sees all: He is aware of the state of the world and the lives we live. Our weaknesses, brokenness, and failures are also no secret to Him. But thankfully He is far greater and more powerful than the darkness that surrounds us. He has carved a way through the darkness and the enemy like a laser of pure, burning light, clearing the way for us to walk in safety.
However, He is also very aware that the path is narrow and the way is tough.

Hope for the Hopeless
So He sent His Son to walk before us so that we would know the way. Now, we can walk in His footsteps, one step at a time.

If we choose to keep our eyes on Him we will not falter.
Jesus lives, reigns and calls us; inviting us to walk with Him in the light of His truth and love.
In love, therefore, He gives us boundaries that keep us safe on the path.
The security we need can be found in His words:
“Love the Lord your God with all that you are and Love your neighbour as you love yourself”.
If we choose to adhere to this rule and follow in His footsteps, we will stay safe on the path.
Help for the Helpless
Yet, our Father knows that we get tired and are easily distracted. Added to this, we are also forgetful and prone to selfishness, laziness, and pride.
So, He sent His Spirit to connect us to the Son. That way, even when we lose our way, we are never alone. Consequently, the Spirit finds a home in us so that we can live in Christ leading us to an eternity with God.

In love:
The Father made the plan
The Son showed the way
The Spirit keeps us close
God is our shield and rear-guard;
He has us completely covered.
So what?
At Easter we remember, reflect and rejoice that Christ died, rose and still lives.
What does that mean for us?
Well, whether we like it or not, our answer will be obvious by the way we live our lives:
- Who we prioritise
- What we cling to
- Where our focus is
- How we fulfil the command to Love
This Easter, as we give thanks for the death, resurrection and new life of Christ, take time out to ask yourself seriously,
What does Easter mean for me?
Then, tell everyone. Not just with words, but with the integrity by which you live your life.
You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
2 Corinthians 3:3
Wishing you all a Happy, never ceasing, ever significant, always up-close-and-personal, Easter,
” The Father made the plan; The Son showed the way; The Spirit keeps us close; God is our shield and rear-guard;
He has us completely covered.” – Wow, that is so true!!! I celebrate Easter for long years, but recently I open my eyes to the real meaning of this celebration. God is so good that he is patient and kind. I’m so grateful for His sacrifice and have lived through it. I was just thinking about how much more I should not feel sad or guilty about Jesus’ sacrifice but be grateful for it!
Thank you for your post, I enjoyed a lot the illustration and photo on it!
Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your thoughts Emma. I totally agree, we acknowledge that our sin is the reason Christ went to the cross but we live in celebration of the love that was behind God’s Perfect Plan. Happy Easter!
