Hope: Somerset Writers Group Anthology 2025

At each of our meetings, we pull a theme from a hat to inspire our next month’s writing task. Our writers are then challenged to come up with a short piece—fiction, poetry, prose or memoir—to be shared the following month. We began the year by pulling two themes from the hat and adding colour to the mix. However, we found the extra theme narrowed the directions the stories went and many of the contributions were very similar. So, we dropped the extra theme and returned to one theme and one colour per month.

In addition to these, we also pull a theme from the hat which will be the topic for our book and our main piece. This year’s theme was Hope.

We hope you enjoy.
