I have been looking forward to getting my hands on this story.

Broken Restoration is the third instalment in the Armour of Light Series from the mighty pen of author Donita Bundy.

The cover is awesome and that’s just for starters.

After leaving Laodicea’s Community of Light, ‘the family’ find an old factory they might be able to call home for the short term. Except it isn’t abandoned.

A group of women, escapees from the Temple of Ashera, and children have been eking out an existence there for several years, helped by a wheelchair bound man and others within the wider community.

‘The family’ believe they have been led to the compound to give assist those living there in whatever way is needed. But there is understandably wariness on both sides.

The family gradually introduce the other residents to the ways of the Light in preparation for an anticipated battle to come.

Broken Restoration is brilliantly told from multiple character viewpoints as they each struggle with their own personal issues. Can they overcome their challenges to unite in a quest to destroy the Temple?
Will the Light prevail and overcome the far-reaching tentacles of the Dark Lord?

Great story, bring on Book 4, Humble Insurrection.

As an avid reader I am pleased to say Donita Bundy has joined an illustrious list of contemporary Christian writers on my ‘must be read’ list. YA Urban Fantasy is not a genre I normally read but I’m so glad I started reading these books and am already champing at the bit to read the next installment. Blinding Revelation is the much anticipated sequel to Dangerous Salvation, book two in the Armour of Light series.

Arriving in Laodicea, the group are begrudgingly welcomed by The Overseer and supplied with a beautiful place to live, food, new clothing and new roles. Despite their unease – where are the demons? – they adjust to their new environment, but of course nothing is what is seems. When stuff starts to go down, will they be able to fight back or have they been lulled into complacency?

I like Donita’s vivid descriptions of the facade that is Laodicea and what lies hidden away.

The story unfolds brilliantly from multiple character viewpoints, including some new ones and I look forward to following their individual journeys in the stories to follow.

The insightful parallels between Laodicea and the western world in general for Christians, are both compelling and thought provoking.

This book is a wonderful reminder of the covert nature of our enemies’ attack. And the need to be ever vigilant and spiritually awake. It reminds us that the slide from “living in the Light” to “playing in the darkness” can happen so subtly that we can suddenly find ourselves on the wrong side of the line when a battle breaks out.

I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy; Christian and non-Christian, and this book rates as bloody good in either category. It doesn’t have a lot of actual bloodshed but Donita has done an amazing job of making the reader feel the emotions of the characters as they are fighting or fearing for their lives.

I have served overseas in a war zone for the Australian Defence Force, and for me, this book gives a pretty good comparison of my time there; not that much actual bloodshed, your emotions are heightened, fears are deeper, joys are higher, and you really … really, need your mates around you. 

Dangerous Salvation is the most emotionally moving fiction book I’ve have read in a very long time. If ever.
